1. Who we are
Tumaninah is an independent mobile application available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. When this policy says "we", "us", or "our", it refers to the developer and publisher of the Tumaninah application. Questions about this policy can be directed to hello@tumaninah.app.
2. What we do not collect
The following is a deliberate and complete list of things Tumaninah does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or any other account identifier
- Your morning intentions, evening reflections, or weekly reviews
- Your duas or dua journal entries
- Any AI-generated suggestions or refinements shown to you in the app
- Your device location
- Your contacts, camera, microphone, or media library
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioural telemetry
- Advertising identifiers
We do not run a backend server. We have no database of users. There is no account to create, and therefore no account to breach.
3. What stays on your device
All personal content you create in Tumaninah is stored in a local SQLite database on your device only. This includes:
- Morning intentions and watch-points
- Evening muhasabah reflections (blessings, struggles, carry-forwards)
- Weekly reflection entries
- Your full dua journal (text, status, history)
- App settings and preferences (reminder times, prompt style, theme)
- Privacy and biometric lock configuration
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it yourself. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. We cannot recover it for you, because we never had it.
4. Optional AI features
Tumaninah includes optional AI-assisted features — such as help phrasing a dua, refining a reflection, or surfacing repeating patterns across your journal. These features are always optional and never required to use the app.
When you choose to use an AI assist feature, the text you are working on is processed using on-device AI only — specifically Apple Intelligence (iOS) or Google on-device AI (Android), depending on your platform. This processing happens entirely on your device. The text is not sent to any cloud AI service, to our servers, or to any third party.
If your device does not support on-device AI, the feature is silently unavailable — no fallback cloud processing occurs.
5. Subscriptions and payments (RevenueCat)
If you choose to upgrade to Tumaninah Pro, the app uses RevenueCat to manage your subscription. RevenueCat is a third-party service that verifies purchases with the App Store or Google Play on our behalf.
In order to do this, RevenueCat assigns your device an anonymous app user ID (a randomly generated string with no connection to your identity) and communicates with its servers to confirm your subscription status. RevenueCat does not receive or process any of your personal reflections or journal content.
The data RevenueCat may process includes:
- An anonymous device-level identifier
- Purchase receipts provided by the App Store or Google Play
- Subscription status (active, expired, restored)
All actual payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Tumaninah never sees or stores your payment card details or billing information. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
6. Local notifications
If you enable reminders in the app, Tumaninah schedules local notifications on your device at the times you specify. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device — no data is sent to a server to trigger them. Notification permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
7. Biometric lock
Tumaninah offers an optional biometric lock (Face ID, Touch ID, or device fingerprint) to protect access to the app. Biometric authentication is handled entirely by your device's operating system. Tumaninah does not have access to your biometric data and never stores or transmits it.
8. Children's privacy
Tumaninah is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app has no account system or data collection, no such information enters our possession regardless of the user's age. 9. Data security
Because your data is stored only on your device, the security of your journal is primarily governed by your device's own security (screen lock, biometrics, encryption). We strongly recommend enabling device-level encryption and a screen lock. Tumaninah's optional biometric lock adds an additional layer specific to the app.
We cannot suffer a data breach of user reflections, because we hold none of that data. The only data RevenueCat holds is the anonymous subscription identifier described in Section 5.
10. Your rights
Because Tumaninah does not collect your personal data, most traditional data rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) are exercised entirely by you, directly on your device:
- Access and export: You can export your full journal history from the Settings screen at any time.
- Deletion: You can erase all your data from the app's Settings screen, or by uninstalling the app.
- Subscription data: To request deletion of the anonymous identifier held by RevenueCat, contact us at hello@tumaninah.app and we will process the request on your behalf.
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under applicable law (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA). Given that we do not collect personal data beyond what is described above, we believe our practices are fully compliant. If you have a concern, please contact us.
11. Third-party links
The app and this website may contain links to third-party services (such as the App Store or Google Play). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before interacting with them.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy — for example, if we ever add a third-party service that processes user data — we will update this page and revise the effective date at the top. We will also post a notice in the app for significant changes.
We have no intention of weakening the privacy architecture of this app. Privacy-by-design is a founding principle of Tumaninah, not a temporary policy choice.
